Why is Childcare Expensive

I have been working in the field of child development for ten years and have raised my own children, so I know the question that most women and families want to know. "Why is childcare so expensive?" When I am ask this question, I always say, you can't put a price on quality care. You may say there is a lot of places less expensive, I say to you, your  taking the chance with your child being served unhealthy meals, no curriculum, watching television all day and/or  sanitation issues to name a few.

Making a decision based on the cost is a decision that will require careful thinking. This is why I am happy to introduce my guest blogger, Ms. Brendle  whom has been working in the field of education for over fifteen years.Who works for one of the top 100 places to work in this industry, according to forbes magazine. Whose expertise has help me in many areas of my career.

  1. Thank you Delores!
Why is Child Care so expensive is a question I have been asked for over the past fifteen years working in this field.
Well here are two great answers.
    1. Quality Teachers- Ask yourself, do you want an educated and experience teacher caring for your child nine to ten hours a day? If your answer is yes then what is that teacher worth? An educated and experienced teacher deserves to make a decent salary. I say decent because we all know teachers aren't paid nearly enough for all the work they do. You also want to make sure they have good benefits. You must have this to keep great teachers around and to have consistency in your child's life. Well guess what, this cost money.

    2. Toys and supplies- Do you want educational toys that are in good condition for your child? Toys get used everyday by several children. This means those toys need to be replaced often. No one wants to play with a broken toy. Children also need books, healthy snacks, paper towels, cups...I could go on. Theses items are needed everyday for even the Mom and Pop centers. Theses items cost money and not a small amount.

So if you want to feel at ease that you child is getting the love and education they need while you are at work for nine to ten hours a day... It's not going to be cheap and for a good reason.
